So today's featured company is going to help us get prepared in a very important way- with 72 hour kits! One of the worst scenarios I can think of would be a time where I could not provide my children with food, water or medical care. I want to be able to take care of my family and I'm sure you do to, so here is some help:

At Ultimate 72 Hour Kits their goal is to provide you with a high quality and reliable 72 hour kit. All of the kits come pre-packaged in either a backpack or container for easy storage and accessibility. Their 72 hour kits are light weight, durable and come fully equipped with everything you will need to get by for a full 72 hours. Having a 72 hour kit in your home will give you and your family peace of mind. Also, at Ultimate 72 Hour Kits they believe you should be prepared not only at home, but everywhere your life takes you. For this reason , they have also prepared 72 hour kits for the office and car. Ultimate 72 Hour Kits wants to make sure you and your family will always be prepared.
Here are some of the other specialty items they offer:

Kits specially designed for kids: A great tool that can be used a variety of ways: A filtration bottle so you can have fresh water ANYWHERE:

And they also have a lot of items that would be great for camping. So check it out and get your family prepared. And Ultimate 72 hour kits will help you out by offering FREE shipping for our readers (and that is a great deal on a big bag full of items!) Just enter the code GIVEAWAY in the redemption code box.

You can enter to win the Deluxe Guardian 72 hour kit up to FOUR times today, as long as you reside in the United States or Canada.

For one entry, leave your first and last name in a comment.
Example: Jane Doe

For a second entry, please visit Ultimate 72 hour kits here. Look at all of their products to get you prepared and then return to Give Away Today. In a NEW comment tell us your first and last name and an item you think your family could really use.
Example: Jane Doe: I need a 72 hour kit for each person in my family!

For a third entry, see those buttons on the left-hand side? They are Give Away Today's sponsors--thank you sponsors--we love you! For your third entry today we would like for you to visit at least three of their sites (and no, we don't get paid each time someone clicks on their button). We just want you to visit them because they have amazing products and some of them are even offering discounts to you. Once you have visited at least three of our sponsor's sites, you get a third entry. Tell us which sites you visited.
Example: Jane Doe: I visited Red Rock Relay (to check out the course again, can't wait to run in that), Sophie's Chic Boutique (made a mental note to order more squeaky shoes) and Toy Box Tee (because I love to look at their creative tees.)

For a fourth entry, tell us about a time when you were in an emergency situation.
Example: Jane Doe: My husband and I were smack dab in the middle of Hurricane Floyd's path when we were living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We had to flee with all of the other residents of Myrtle Beach. Therefore, it took us four and a half hours to drive out. It was a mess, but I admit, a little exciting.

The winner of the kit from Ultimate 72 Hour Kit will be announced Wednesday, August 12th. Please visit us then to see if you are our winner and to discover our new giveaway for the day. See you tomorrow!

Living where I do in Southern Nevada, we don't get too many emergency situations. Closest thing we get to emergencies is when the power goes out once in a while during thunder and lightning storms at night. Then we pull out the lanterns and Kerosene lanterns.

Becky Baird - The only time we've had an emergency situation was when dh and I both lost our jobs at the same time. We lived off of the small and meager food storage we had. That made us realize the importance of having food storage. It doesn't take a big natural disaster to have to live off your emergency stuff.

Kristi Richmond: A couple of years ago, we had a horrible storm with more rain than I've ever seen at one time (and that is saying something - I live in the Northwest). I had just gotten everyone to school, tried to get home and roads were starting to shutdown because of the flooding. I switched my little car for the big one and headed out to get my preschooler before the roads to her school shut down. While out, they started shutting down all the other schools. After a lot of tense driving through a lot of standing and running water, I got my kids for the 3 different schools and made it home. About 20 minutes later, the road I came home on washed away (right after the last school bus from the Elementary went over it) Amazingly no one was hurt when the 50 foot wide/ 40 foot deep hole was made. It took them almost a year to fix - crazy.

Years ago, they didn't train lifeguards for asthma cases, but during our CPR training, it had randomly come up, so I knew what to do. We kept the boy breathing and stable until EMS got there to take over, and luckily, everything ended up okay. I still keep my CPR/FA up and keep a CPR mask with me all the time, just in case.
