Tara Robertson of Smoky Pendants makes rustic smoke-fired ceramic jewelry. Her pendants and focals are hand-pressed in original molds and colored by flames alone. They are fired in a backyard campfire pit filled with organic material (banana peels, moldy bread, leaves, you name it!) The colors from the burning materials are absorbed by the porous clay surfaces. After firing, they are thoroughly cleaned and polished with floor wax. Because of the process used, every jewelry piece is completely unique.
