Example: Jane Doe: Last year I wanted to encourage my son to continue reading throughout the summer months. I told him if he would read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory we could have a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory party for his birthday at the end of July. When the time came, we delivered chocolate bars to each of his friends which contained a Golden Ticket inviting them to the party. As the boys arrived on party day, we divided them into groups and rotated to three stations. At one station they made suckers, at another they played musical chairs to the Oompa-Loompa music, and at the third they played "Don't Eat Pete" using the words "Willy, Willy, Wonka". At the end of the party we brought out two chocolate fountains for dessert. A good time was had by all.
The winner of the $30.00 gift certificate and "My Cookie Book" from Karen's Cookies will be announced tomorrow, Friday, July 10th. We do not contact the winners, so please visit us again tomorrow to see if you are our winner and to discover our new giveaway for the day. Thanks and have a great day!

Shannon Blockburger: I once saw a Little Cooks birthday party, which sounded fun. They made cookies or something as an activity, and then they gave little half aprons as a favor.
Brittany Hansen: We had a bug birthday party for my son jack, we made bugs out of M&M's on cupcakes, it was a blast.

Kimberly Nasfell: I love princess themed birthday parties (probably because I have two little girls). Last year my oldest daughter attended the party of her best friend where all of the little girls (and one boy) got magically transformed into fairy princesses with wings, skirts, wands and fairy dust. They went on treasure hunts for special princess treasure for which they earned crowns for. It was the whole nine yards and so adorable (especially since my daughter truly believed she had been changed into a fairy princess for the day)!
Angela Shepherd: I'd get the My Cookie Book
Geri Smith
Alison Jennings: For my son's 3rd birthday he wanted a dragon cake so I made him a big dragon cake and put some of the guys from his castle set on it to fight the dragon. He loved it.
Kimberly Nasfell: I think I would get the whole Cookie book to have ALL of the cards. But then, of course, I wouldn't be able to resist buying a couple of the matching cookie cutters to go with it! :)
Geri Smith-I want the binder with all of the cookie recipe cards! So fun. My daughter is 1 year old today and I would love to get the recipes for future birthdays and memories!

barbara cohen: for my sons 5th birhtday he was really into dinosaurs so we hosted a Jurasic Party.
As the kids arrived they recieved a safari hat which then they got to decorate with stickers and markers.
Then we played a dino matching game.
I took elmers glue and bird seed and made round fossils each that had a small plastic dino inside. I gave the kids a popsicle stick and the had to dig out the dino.
Instead of a cake we did cupcakes and each one had a plastic dino on the top.
It was alot of fun.

Sarita Rogers: I would get the cookie book and some cookie cutters
liz memmott wow those are some great ideas for birthday parties in the comments. I have not had to have a birthday party yet, but I would love to do a pirate theme having invitations like a map, and pirate hats, and activities they can earn gold and then keep the gold at the end and redeem for treats. Also my son attended a star wars birthday party and they came home with a little outfit made out of felt material and a sword it was cute.
Melissa Duran: I love the bee cookie cutter and the Sports Balls Cookie Kit
Jill Swensen: Follower
Misty Jones: I would proably have to buy a full kit and learn how to decorate...then I would get a few different cookie cutters!
Sarah Sargent: My mom always thre us "mystery dinner" parties. We would each get a "menu" but instead of telling us what we were having we would just have clues. We then had to try and figure out what the clues meant and decide what order we wanted them. Everything including drinks and silverware was on the menu and depending on how good of a guesser you are with the clues you might get your soup first and have to wait 15 minutes or more for your spoon. LOL
Cassidy Mickelsen: A good birthday party is bug party. Have the dirt and worm icecream (recipie on Pioneer Women) Decorate with bugs. Give away small spider rings etc. with goodie bag. Play games but change them to bug games like pinning legs on the centepede or spots on the ladybug. Even girls like it all.

Jill Swensen: I threw a 30th birthday party for two of my friends. We used Oprah's Favorite Things as inspiration and everyone brought one of their favorite things to exchange. We got to guess who brought what and everyone left with someone else's favorite thing.
Melissa Duran: My son's first birthday is coming up and we are having a baseball themed party with all the food that is found at the ballpark and cake (or cookies :D) decorated as baseballs. We are going to have everyone wear their Dodgers T-shirts.
Erin Wilhelmsen someone in my ward threw a car birthday party. They made cardboard cars with the kids and drew chalk road lines on the sidewalk so that the kids could drive their "Cars" on the road. It was a pretty clever party.
Stacey Morgan: I would get a cookie spatula and a qhole slew of cookie cutters, I particularly like the animals (caterpillar, snail) and the feet.
Jeanette Allday: love the cookie cutters especially the Texas one!
Kayleen Streator, I love the onesie one

Kayleen Streator We call my little girl bug so that was the theme for her first birhtdat. Everyone got their own little bug cake.
Jennifer Tobler - We've done so many parties but our favorite was the one we just had for my 6 year old. The 5 and 6 year olds made bug boxes out of disposable plastic containers, then they "caught" a plastic bug we had placed outside. They then played outside games while I filled their boxes with live ladybugs. As the kids left they looked into thier boxes to see them crawling with bugs. The cake was made in a hill shaped and dotted with lady bugs and flowers. The kids all talk about the candy ladybugs I made and how they all got to "eat a ladybug".
Jeanette Allday: Cookies and Milk party. Everyone brings cookies and recipes and several flavors of milk are served. Everyone goes home with a variety of cookies in cute gift bags
Stephanie Hendrickson
Lindsay Lakin- I want to throw a huge Halloween party with our friends and their kids. We have a pond in our backyard that I would put a fog machine near and red lights inside to make it look creepy. We'd have all sorts of fun games, then tell ghost stories around the fire pit.

But the cutest thing I have heard is little girls having Fancy Nancy Tea Parties -- coming in "fancy" clothes, giving away plastic jewelry and eating fancy treats. SO cute!
Sharylann Smith: I recently was told about a Harry Potter themed birthday party. They had wands, made potions, had magic experiments, everything. The pictures from it were amazing!

Tamara Payne: We do a birthday party for my son's friends every other year. Because he's only six he doesn't understand why he doesn't get one every year. When he was 4 he was so sad to find out his friends weren't coming over on his birthday. His birthday is in December. Instead of doing a birthday party that year we did a sugar cookie decorating party. We invited the same friends who would come to a birthday party but they couldn't bring gifts. Instead they all left with cookies for their families that they had lovingly decorated themselves.

The kids came dressed in their favorite pj's and I purchased white pillowcases and fabric coloring pens for the kids to color and decorate their own pillowcases with. I made a cake out of the shape of a half moon and also decorated star shaped sugar cookies. The kids had a blast and after (while waiting for the parents) laid down with their blankets and pillows to watch a movie.

Kassi Udy: A couple of years ago, I had a garden birthday party for my little girl. Invites looked like a packet of seeds w/ a flower attached. When guests arrived, I put large flower clippies in their hair. We potted flowers (pots purchased @ IKEA), went on a bug hunt (darling bug barns, etc... at Dollar Tree), ate "dirt cups" (pudding, crushed Oreos & gummy worms), and my take-home treats were gardening tools, gloves, etc... that I'd purchased from Target.
