GIVEAWAY #1: A $30.00 Gift Certificate from Southern Living at Home
A few weeks ago I picked my son up from his friend's house. The friend's mom invited me in to chat for a second while my son was putting on his shoes. I happened to glance at their kitchen table and I instantly wished it were mine. Arranged nicely on their table were matching plates, place mats, napkins, and cups. It was not a special occassion nor Sunday dinner, it was an ordinary weeknight. Yet this sweet mom had made her family's dinner so inviting. A lovely place where her family could gather to discuss their day while sharing an evening meal together.
Today I am happy to introduce you to Southern Living at Home, a company whose mission is to create a feeling of welcome, comfort, and beauty in homes all across America.
Many of us have always known that home is, indeed, where the heart is. It's where family comes together in happiness and comfort. It's where we can change the world for better, just a little bit, simply by making our house a home. What a wonderful time to focus on home. As the days start to grow shorter and the air gets chilly, we are all looking for a place to snuggle up! Creating a haven of comfort and filling a house with memories are such wonderful gifts we can give our families.
Southern Living at Home's products are designed to mix and match in many spots of your home. Many of their products are are specifically made for entertaining, whether it's a family of four or the whole neighborhood.

For a fourth entry, on the way home from picking my son up from his friend's house (as related in the opening paragraph) I received a $90.00 ticket!! Bahhhh!! So for a fourth entry, in a NEW comment tell us your first and last name and the last ticket you received and why.
Example: Jane Doe: This is a long story, so I'll make it short. My parents were over for dinner, my son was at his friend's house but the line was busy so I decided to go get him, my dad parked behind me so I had to take his car, my dad had just arrived home from a trip and I didn't realize that there was no room in the car for my son so I had him sit in-between the driver and passenger seats, we passed a cop, I got pulled over IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE (because I had only driven two streets away), cop gave me $45 ticket for not having my son in a seatbelt (I'll take that, I was being irresponsible), but then he also gave me a $45.00 for not having my license, but did I mention we were IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE? I know the cop was only doing his job, but c'mon, someone in my family (because they were all standing on the front lawn watching us) could have brought me my license. But the cop would not let them. I do believe I will walk next time I need to pick my son up for dinner (even if it means our soup will get cold).
The winner of the $30.00 gift certificate from Southern Living at Home will be announced tomorrow Tuesday, September 22nd. Please visit us then to see if you are our winner and to discover our new giveaways for the day. Thanks and we'll see you tomorrow!

RuthAnn Mayne-I got my last ticket about 2 years ago. I was late, of course, and my daughter was crying and whining and I was "talking very loudly" to her, so I was distracted and didn't realize I was going 40 in a 25. The cop sure noticed and gave me a ticket. But I have to say traffic school was very informative =)

Geoff Kaufman: I only received one ticket in my life, and I'm still bitter about it! I had just entered the highway from the on-ramp not knowing the section of the road I was had been marked as a construction zone (no signs or indicators were present) and I was ticketed (also around 90 bucks) for going 64 (the speed limit was normally 65 but had been reduced to 55 temporarily). I paid the fine but wasn't happy about it!

Brandy Hoot - I'm probably going to jinx myself here but the last time I got a ticket was about 12 years ago. I was heading back to grad school after a weekend away and was listening to one of my lectures on tape. Guess I got so caught up in thought that I lost track of the speedometer. I was ticketed for reckless driving because I was going 20 miles over the speed limit (on the highways) and had to attend remedial driving school. I was the only "adult" in there and to this day my father refers to me as AO (Adult Offender!) UGH!!!!

I figured I had better get some helium for the ballons tho add some more spice to the party. I went on Friday morning to pick up a helium tank, back when you had to get from a supplier. I then had to take my daughter to school and go to work myself. I got pulled about 4 blocks before her school. Of course I got a ticket, but as bad as that was I'm just glad I didn't get in trouble for having the helium tank in the back seat behind me. Sure learned my lesson.

It was snowing and we were driving around trying to find a place to live as we were moving in a couple of weeks. I ran a stop sign that was not very obvious and was going 10 over the speed limit. Consequently I got double hit, but was able to go to court and get them to half it.

Michelle Clark: I was in a car accident when I was a teenager - hydroplaned into a guard rail; wasn't speeding or being wreckless, but was ticketed. I actually never did find out what exactly it was for. The officer's only explanation to me was, "Well, you broke the guard rail and somebody's got to pay for it." I only had to go to traffic school.
Rachel Allen - There are so many great things that I'd like to put this gift card towards. I think that I'd like to eventually put it towards the Signature Portraits. We are expecting our first child in February and think that a beautiful picture of our new born son hanging in our bedroom would be great!
Tanya Smith
Andrea Bidwell
Rachel Allen - The last ticket that I received was in June of 2007. I was driving out to the lake with two friends of mine to meet up with some other girls for our friends bachelorette party. We were jamming out in the car and following along with traffic. I mean, it was a two lane road and I wasn't passing anyone ... so seriously ... following along with traffic! All of a sudden two cops pass us and everyone starts slowing down in my lane. I do the same. Next thing I know, lights are behind ME of all people.
Then, to make matters worse he makes me get out of the car and stand on the side of the road to talk to me instead of having me pull into a parking lot or something and talking to me at my window. So, everyone that drove by was of course staring and wondering why I was having to talk to a cop outside on the high way. I was soooo mortified! UGH! Just thinking about it now makes me angry!
Anyway, I ended up taking defensive driving and the ticket never went on my insurance. So, maybe I've learned my lesson this time :)

Lucky Me!
In the 42 years that I've been driving, I have never received a ticket of any kind. I'm not saying that I'm a perfect driver...just a lucky one I guess!
sarah nuttall: the last ticket I got was for an accident I was in. a guy ran a red light and slammed into the side of my car and the cop gave me a ticket, I had to go to court, after talking to the wrong person at the city and county building and when I got there, the person in charge of my case took me out to the hall and said I should've talked to him and he dismissed the case and I just had to go to traffic school. He took my side...thank goodness.
carrie ovard - It has been a while since I was pulled over. The officer was stopped on the freeway on the left hand side, (for no particular reason I might add) and I was in the process of passing a diesel. The officer pulled me over with my 4 year old at the time, and asked me if I had been drinking cause I almost hit his car. I wanted to hit him. I was not where even close to his car. Luckily there was no ticket. Not that I did anything wrong anyway!
