When my daughter first saw my new haircut she asked, “Why did you cut your hair?” She asked this in the same tone you might ask someone, “Why do you murder the neighbor’s cat?” or “Why did you set that building on fire?” She’s not a big fan of my new do. She thinks moms should have long hair.
I wasn’t quite sure about my hair at first, but I have to admit, it is growing on me (no pun intended). And this is why. I love placing stylish hair accessories in it.
Stylish hair accessories from Lyla Lous, to be exact.
They have the cutest flowers:
The most fashionable headbands: For adults and for children:
Lyla Lou's even remembers our wee ones. They offer soft baby headbands too:
Lyla Lou's hair accessories are not your average, run-of-the-mill flimsy little flowers. No sir. They are of high-quality and will make the perfect addition to any outfit. Two of my favorite things about the products I received from Lyla Lou's? The bling in the middle of the flowers. And the fact that their headbands have extra padding so that it doesn't hurt for you or your little one to wear the headband. After all, it shouldn't be painful to be fashionable.
And it shouldn't be expensive to be fashionable either. That is why Lyla Lou's offers great prices which they would like to make even greater by offering you a DISCOUNT! Lyla Lou's is offering the readers of Give Away Today a 25% discount off a purchase of $25 or more. The coupon code is "GIVEAWAY09". It will expire on September 18th.
For a second entry visit Lyla Lou's online shoppe here. Look at all of their gorgeous hair accessories. Then come back to Give Away Today and in a NEW comment tell us your first and last name and an item or two you wish you owned from Lyla Lou's.
For a third entry, become a blog follower of Give Away Today over there on the right-hand side. Once you have become a follower, or if you already follower, in a NEW comment, tell us your first and last name and the word "Follower."

For a fourth entry, when one of my neighbors saw my new haircut for the first time she said, “You got your haircut. That was really brave of you.” When I told this to my husband he said that she definitely meant it as a compliment.
“You think?” I asked him.
“Bravery is a good thing,” he replied.
“Yeah when you’re in war, but bravery when you get your haircut? I'm not so sure.”
So my question to you, dear friends, is when someone says to you, “You got your haircut. That was really brave of you.” are they giving you a compliment? In a NEW comment, please tell me your first and last name and your answer to this question.
Example: Jane Doe: Hmmmm...
The winners of the hair accessories from Lyla Lou's will be announced tomorrow, August 19th. Please visit us then to see if you are one of our winners and to check out our new giveaway for the day. See you tomorrow!

I would pick the yellow Sophie baby headband....especially for my new granddaughter Sophia born on 8/7. The yellow would look stunning against her dark brown hair

I guess it would depend on the tone of voice if I'd be able to tell if it was a compliment or not. I don't think I'd ever say to anyone that it was a brave thing to do.

Jessica Salmon. I think they were trying to say they admired such a huge change because they themselves aren't brave enough to attempt it. So a round-about compliment.

Chati Stavast: I think they were giving you a compliment. Meaning you were brave to try something different from your usual.
brittany preston: i think by bravery on a haircut they meant...it's a change. change takes bravery. it's tough for some ladies to ever get a hair cut because they stick with the same ol' year after year....so your neighbor probably brave as in wow, that's something i couldn't do.

I was just abt to pick a random headband or clippy because I'm just not one of those "frilly" moms. I'm lucky if I get my girls' hair out of their faces. But I saw the trixie head band & I HAVE to have it. I think I'll go ahead and purchase it for a little suprise.

Rachel Trotter: I would take it as a compliment. I've had long hair almost my entire life, so if I were to cut it short, it would be very brave of me! Besides, why bother being offended by something so silly and little?

I don't think she meant it as a compliment or...whats the opposite of a compliment?
What I mean is, people are used to seeing us a particular way. When you drasitically change your appearance, like a hair cut, people may be a little shocked (not in a good or bad way). Give her a few days and I'm sure it will be a comliment.
My aunt, who has ALWAYS had short hair showed up to my brother's wedding with sholder length hair and I didn't even recognize her. She still gives me a hard time because the first thing I said was, "your hair is long".
OK, so... long comment to say, "If you like your hair cut, who cares what the neighbor thinks!"

So many people stick with what's comfortable and predictable, especially when it comes to hairstyles and you experimented. Congrats, that does take guts! Be proud. Catey Ball - I think it's a good thing! A lot of the time we moms get stuck in a rut and it takes guts to step out and do something different. Especially if you have long hair, when you cut it all off it's not something you can do over again. Not like buying a new outfit and having someone say "wow, you're wearing that? That's brave!" I would think that's not so positive. But with the hair, she's saying "kudos to you for going for something fun and new!"
Kati Spencer: compliment...or maybe not.
