When my daughter first saw my new haircut she asked, “Why did you cut your hair?” She asked this in the same tone you might ask someone, “Why do you murder the neighbor’s cat?” or “Why did you set that building on fire?” She’s not a big fan of my new do. She thinks moms should have long hair.
I wasn’t quite sure about my hair at first, but I have to admit, it is growing on me (no pun intended). And this is why. I love placing stylish hair accessories in it.
Stylish hair accessories from Lyla Lous, to be exact.
They have the cutest flowers:
The most fashionable headbands: For adults and for children:
Lyla Lou's even remembers our wee ones. They offer soft baby headbands too:
Lyla Lou's hair accessories are not your average, run-of-the-mill flimsy little flowers. No sir. They are of high-quality and will make the perfect addition to any outfit. Two of my favorite things about the products I received from Lyla Lou's? The bling in the middle of the flowers. And the fact that their headbands have extra padding so that it doesn't hurt for you or your little one to wear the headband. After all, it shouldn't be painful to be fashionable.
And it shouldn't be expensive to be fashionable either. That is why Lyla Lou's offers great prices which they would like to make even greater by offering you a DISCOUNT! Lyla Lou's is offering the readers of Give Away Today a 25% discount off a purchase of $25 or more. The coupon code is "GIVEAWAY09". It will expire on September 18th.
For a second entry visit Lyla Lou's online shoppe here. Look at all of their gorgeous hair accessories. Then come back to Give Away Today and in a NEW comment tell us your first and last name and an item or two you wish you owned from Lyla Lou's.
For a third entry, become a blog follower of Give Away Today over there on the right-hand side. Once you have become a follower, or if you already follower, in a NEW comment, tell us your first and last name and the word "Follower."

For a fourth entry, when one of my neighbors saw my new haircut for the first time she said, “You got your haircut. That was really brave of you.” When I told this to my husband he said that she definitely meant it as a compliment.
“You think?” I asked him.
“Bravery is a good thing,” he replied.
“Yeah when you’re in war, but bravery when you get your haircut? I'm not so sure.”
So my question to you, dear friends, is when someone says to you, “You got your haircut. That was really brave of you.” are they giving you a compliment? In a NEW comment, please tell me your first and last name and your answer to this question.
Example: Jane Doe: Hmmmm...
The winners of the hair accessories from Lyla Lou's will be announced tomorrow, August 19th. Please visit us then to see if you are one of our winners and to check out our new giveaway for the day. See you tomorrow!

Carrie Higgins, I would've said getting your hair cut was brave as a compliment, so I bet she meant it for one too.

Blain Young: I think that she was saying that she really did like it. And maybe she was just not brave enough do something like that herself.
Kristen Mason: if it's not followed up by "it's really cute", or "i really like it" then I'd say it's not a compliment.
Carrie Higgins, cranberry and cream Zoe headbands!

Jeanne Gwin: I simply adore the Large Brown/Pink Polka Bow Headband and if I don't win one, I am going to buy one and request some other colors as well. My next pick is the Flame Missy Headband, since I am a huge KC Chiefs fan this will be good to wear to show my pride in my team on game day!!! Lyla Lou, have you thought about doing sports theme headbands and/or flower clips? I would purchase my favorite NFL team, College Team, etc...
Andrea Bidwell: Well, I have very long hair, so it may be a genuine comment.
Jeanne Gwin: Follower
Jeanne Gwin: Uhmmmm, I would not have taken it as a compliment, rather I would have thought she wazs telling me that cutting my hair was like removing my best feature. Nope not brave. I grow mine to give to locks of love twice a year and in between have numerous hair styles that I try out. I have never felt brave, just felt normal

Kimberly Nasfell: I don't think that that comment is a compliment...but I don't think it's a put down either. I used to have my hair SUPER short. Short and spikey. Very fun, but very, very "scary" to the average American woman to do to herself. I got compliments EVERY DAY on how much everyone LOVED my hair but that they would NEVER have the courage to go that short. So, simply put I think that was just your neighbors way of telling you that she doesn't have as much guts as you (but secretly wishes that she did). Horray for being "brave"! :)

Melissa Davis: LOL, gosh not sure! If I loved the hair cut, I would stay "OH, you got a new hair cut...it looks great!"
Sharlynn Scivally: I would have to say that it doesn't sound so nice, but she could be meaning that it was brave of you to chop your hair. Maybe she has always wanted to cut her hair short and doesn't dare. That is when the "braveness" would be a compliment.

Heidi Nelson: I really like the Zoe and the Ruthie headbands
Rochelle Evans: my opinion? I think that comment totally depents on who says it and how she says it. If it's someone who doesn't take many risks with her hair, she's probably saying it in a judgemental way. If she's a close friend, or someone who changes her hair a lot, she's probably saying it like "yay! good for you!"

Monika Crain: I wouldn't take it as a good thing when they say that about your hair cut. It's kind of rude.
karla varela- follower
Bella Stefanos: It was definitely a backhanded compliment, especially if it was said by a woman.
By saying "you're brave" she's either telling you that you're mundane and that she's surprised you even went out of your comfort zone or it's her way of saying "you're brave" to be walking around with such a hideous cut (in her opinion.)
A compliment would be "oh my gosh, you got a hair cut. You have to be really brave to get such a different style but you totally pull it off! It looks great on you"

carrie ovard - I don't know that I would take it as a compliment. Maybe you got a new style that she had never seen before and she was thinking it was brave that you got something different. I really think it would depend on the tone of her voice as to whether or not she was complimenting you.
Heidi Kartchner
it seems like a weird comment to make but i don't think it was meant as a rude remark.
Whitney Bishop: I love the trixie head band! And I have REALLY been wanting a flower clip of some sort for my hair so I hope I win!!! Fingers crossed!
Shannan Maio
Whitney Bishop: Haha I think that it could be both depending. Someone might use that to cover up not having to say it's cute when they don't think it is. But seriously, I have said that to people before when their hair is SOOO cute and I really do think they are brave!
