When my daughter first saw my new haircut she asked, “Why did you cut your hair?” She asked this in the same tone you might ask someone, “Why do you murder the neighbor’s cat?” or “Why did you set that building on fire?” She’s not a big fan of my new do. She thinks moms should have long hair.
I wasn’t quite sure about my hair at first, but I have to admit, it is growing on me (no pun intended). And this is why. I love placing stylish hair accessories in it.
Stylish hair accessories from Lyla Lous, to be exact.
They have the cutest flowers:
The most fashionable headbands: For adults and for children:
Lyla Lou's even remembers our wee ones. They offer soft baby headbands too:
Lyla Lou's hair accessories are not your average, run-of-the-mill flimsy little flowers. No sir. They are of high-quality and will make the perfect addition to any outfit. Two of my favorite things about the products I received from Lyla Lou's? The bling in the middle of the flowers. And the fact that their headbands have extra padding so that it doesn't hurt for you or your little one to wear the headband. After all, it shouldn't be painful to be fashionable.
And it shouldn't be expensive to be fashionable either. That is why Lyla Lou's offers great prices which they would like to make even greater by offering you a DISCOUNT! Lyla Lou's is offering the readers of Give Away Today a 25% discount off a purchase of $25 or more. The coupon code is "GIVEAWAY09". It will expire on September 18th.
For a second entry visit Lyla Lou's online shoppe here. Look at all of their gorgeous hair accessories. Then come back to Give Away Today and in a NEW comment tell us your first and last name and an item or two you wish you owned from Lyla Lou's.
For a third entry, become a blog follower of Give Away Today over there on the right-hand side. Once you have become a follower, or if you already follower, in a NEW comment, tell us your first and last name and the word "Follower."

For a fourth entry, when one of my neighbors saw my new haircut for the first time she said, “You got your haircut. That was really brave of you.” When I told this to my husband he said that she definitely meant it as a compliment.
“You think?” I asked him.
“Bravery is a good thing,” he replied.
“Yeah when you’re in war, but bravery when you get your haircut? I'm not so sure.”
So my question to you, dear friends, is when someone says to you, “You got your haircut. That was really brave of you.” are they giving you a compliment? In a NEW comment, please tell me your first and last name and your answer to this question.
Example: Jane Doe: Hmmmm...
The winners of the hair accessories from Lyla Lou's will be announced tomorrow, August 19th. Please visit us then to see if you are one of our winners and to check out our new giveaway for the day. See you tomorrow!

Heather Mahan: I don't think that's a compliment, no...
Lori Woodbury: It IS brave to try a new haircut and venture into the unknown. It's not hand to hand combat, but you're allowing another piece of your personality to show through that maybe most people don't usually get to see. I know so many people who've had bad haircuts too, so trusting that the new girl weilding the scissors is going to get it just right?...that's taking your life in your hands.
Christi Higham: I think "brave" is a compliment. It's just not the phrase I would use for a friend. :)

Christi HIgham: I love the Trixie flower headbands. All of them :)
Annette Estell
Robin Archer-I think that she definitely did NOT mean it as a compliment! It sounds like she thought that it was too drastic of a change...and maybe that she didn't have the guts to do it?
Tracy Murri
Brooke Webber - I like the Trixie headband in yellow or pink

Brooke Webber - Probably was a compliment, but not a very good one!
Kellie Jorgensen: I have to give it as a gift since I only have a boy (But he is GREAT)so, the orange one.
Kellie Jorgensen: It depends if they are a "good" friend, or one of thoes people with self esteem issues, asways trying to give little jabs, but always acting so (fake) sweet.

I think she was jealous of your cute hair and that's why she phrased it that way. :)

Lenae Rowley- I actually agree that it probably was a compliment. Some people really wish they had the guts to cut their hair, but end up going with the "trim" instead. I'm sure your hair is darling!
Shanda Nuila: I don't think it was a compliment. She must have been older and not up to date with current style.

Alisha Anderson: thats a funny question cuz i just colored my hair a totally different color and cut it, and someone yesterday said, "you cut your hair, its really cute!)" but when someone says you got a hair cut its really brave of you, its not really a comment for me becuase i'll never know what its gonna look like tol i cut it, and whether it looks bad after i cut it, my hair will grow back and i'll live with it!
Kimberly Pueblo: I wouldn't have taken that as a compliment, unless she followed it up by saying, she really liked it. Bravery is a good thing though, I agree with that!
Jill Rupp
Kimberly Pueblo: I'd love the Zoe flower clip!
amanda lloyd- must have the headbands!

amanda lloyd- saying you are brave.. well, i would say it is not a compliment.
Kristin Wilberg: I think that it definately was a compliment. If you haven't had your hair that short, it does take some risk on your end.

Brittany Knudsen: Your neighbor is no friend to you. BEWARE! Ok maybe that was a bit dramatic:) In my opinion that was not a compliment.
Tamie Peterson: hmmmm....good question. it's all in the tone of the voice...as long as you're happy with the haircut it doesn't really matter what others say---but the tricky part is when you're still not sure about it and then *any* comment is a little iffy for you!

hmmm... I think it would depend on how drastic the change was. Like if your hair was really long to begin with and then you cut it real short...that would be brave because it is such a big change.

Maybe she isn't "brave" enough to chop off her hair that is why she is impressed with your "bravery" I have a few friends that will never get a drastic haircut for fear they can't pull it off. Hopefully admiration of you.

Crissa Harris-I would think that means she may not like the cut for her...like you're brave but she's not! Or she isn't into short hair...I personally think we look more put together with a short cut :) Please post pics and let us be the judges...before and afters please :)
